Evaluating the website experience for Marktplaats

Marktplaats is a Dutch classifieds advertising site owned by eBay. The company wanted to rejuvenate their website in order to improve the user experience. The goal was to maximize acceptance of this updated website by optimally tailoring the website functionalities to the needs of the customer base and to explore the communication strategy.

What did we do?

We set up a 3-month Consumer Consulting Board (also known as online research community) with 140 users, to explore the user experience, user needs and communication campaign.

The results

The renewed website was communicated through a national press release, referring to the preceding community phase to fully align with the users’ needs. The next phase in the communication campaign is to grant access to 50,000 users as to further fine-tune the website through an online forum. The updated website has been accessible to all users since the summer of 2012.
