Two co-creation cases in the Award spotlight: Heineken and Telenet
The Co-Creation Association connects people with a passion and interest in co-creation. On 22nd of November 2011, their second edition of the Co-Creation Awards will be held. They nominated 50 co-creation initiatives in 3 categories; customization, crowdsourcing and community. We’re very happy to have 2 of our cases nominated, let’s discover some more details!
Crowdsourcing: Heineken, Open Design Explorations
Heineken launched an open call for designers on Facebook to co-create a visionary nightclub. The most talented entrees were invited to present their portfolios at a PechaKucha selection night in New York, Tokyo, Milan or Sao Paulo. Eventually 19 designers were selected to come up with ideas for the club of the future. Designers were inspired to focus on the experience of the clubbers by a custom designed interactive infographic, the result of an online research community with 120 design-savvy clubbers based in the 20 hottest cities of the world. Community: Telenet, The launch of Yelo
From the launch of Yelo, an application bringing digital TV to mobile devices like the iPhone, iPad and (portable) computer, users were invited to provide feedback on social media. By observing these conversations, relevant themes were detected in a netnography study. 100 participants were recruited from the open community to join a 3-week closed pre-launch community to allow in-depth discussion of the uncovered themes, collaboration on improvements and to structure the development roadmap. After the community, feedback was shared on social media again, offering all users a chance to join the dialogue.
